Lime Rickey International and Stephan Crawford
Kinetech Arts Featured Artist Presentations are a monthly showcase for creators, artists, scientists, makers and thinkers to discuss their work and life This month we are proud to present Lime Rickey International and Stephan Crawford. There is a $5 suggested donation.
Lime Rickey International is the "alter ego" of Leyya Mona Tawil; an artist working with voice, sound and performance practices. Leyya is a Syrian-Palestinian-American, engaged in the world as such. Her articulation of Arab Experimentalism embeds political sub-narratives and cultural confusions into the performance fabric. Leyya's work has been presented in 16 countries and throughout the states. Leyya is the director of DANCE ELIXIR and TAC – a venue for experimental arts in Oakland-CA which is celebrating its 20th year this fall. Find out more at her website
Stephan Crawford is a San Francisco-based artist whose practice spans fine art (sculpture, mixed media), cross-disciplinary collaboration, and conceptual project work. He draws inspiration from nature and often seeks to spark fresh insights about human interaction with the natural world. The first science-art-technology collaboration that he conceived and developed, The ClimateMusic Project, has garnered international media attention. He is a long-time member of a group of artists working out of a prominent studio in the central Market Street district of San Francisco. He is also a long-time student of flamenco guitar and holds graduate degrees in the sciences and the arts. To see some of his studio work.
